Multigenre Guitarist and Songwriter

Hans Holzen is a guitarist, songwriter, bandleader, and sideman based in Madison, WI. While his style is best described as “Americana,”  his influences range widely, creating a complex and unique sound. Hans is heavily influenced by the music of his hometown, Nashville, TN, where many amazing musicians and unique experiences shaped his style and approach to music. He currently performs under his own name and is a member of the Shauncey Ali Quartet.

Hans might be a new musician to the Madison scene, but he has a long history of performing and touring from his stints in New York City and Nashville. Most notably he played guitar for songwriters Carrie Rodriguez, Chip Taylor, and Peter Bradley Adams and performed with the Mark O’Connor String Celebration Ensemble. Hans has opened for acts such as Lucinda Williams and John Prine and performed on Austin City Limits and a Prairie Home Companion.
